David Bowie Likeness Study
After experimenting stylized characters, I really wanted to deepen my skills in sculpting realistic characters. I already gave it a try with my Lara Croft fan art, but I wanted to take it to a new level: likeness study.
For me, this is one of the hardest exercise. Because you don't simply sculpt, you have to make it resembling and also give it life.
This project required to use an already unwrapped lambda face, as I was doing it the Hadi Karimi way. Watching him sculpt his Matthew McConaughey helped me a lot to figure out what was important to get in someone's face to make it resembling.
I decided to use David Bowie as my rat lab, being a huge fan of his. Plus, he has very interesting features, wich for me was a great exercise in this kind of study.
Not only did I try to sculpt him, I also worked the skin texture and the eyes. (I think that his eyes are supposed to be both blue, but on every reference I found, his left eye felt more brown.)
